CryptoChicks celebrates International Women's Day
Today on March 8, 2021 – International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world. Although the origins of this day dates back all the way to 1909, it was first adopted by the feminist movement in 1967 and officially celebrated by the United Nations in 1977. March 8th is a day to celebrate women and promote equality for women.
With new advances in technology everyday and its growing presence in our everyday lives, women equality goes further than just rights. It’s a well-known fact that some of the fastest-growing and highest-paying jobs are in the STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and math) field, yet only 35% of STEM students globally are women. With how widespread modern technology is, this is an alarmingly low number. Representation matters.
This is why we started CryptoChicks: To encourage women to enter the tech space and become entrepreneurs by building their own tech startups. We created an early-stage incubator and mentorship program, CryptoChicks Hatchery, that supports primarily women-led tech startups. We also recently launched an educational platform for blockchain technology and entrepreneurial content, CryptoChicks Academy.
